Queen Of Ages Trilogy: Book One
In all things there must be a balance, light can only shine if darkness exists, good can only be realised if there is evil with which to compare it.
A young woman born to fulfil an ancient prophecy is trapped by fate into a world of violence, lust, love and madness.
Can she sacrifice herself to save her way of life and the lives of those she cares for, even if it means betraying those she loves most?
*The book does contain scenes of sexual violence and torture which some readers may find disturbing*

This is not the type of book I would usually read as I'm not a fan of fantasy stories as a rule but I met the author at a book signing and being as she was a new author to me I was intrigued to read some of her work and boy am I glad I did. The story is stunning, each word creating a visual in the mind that is breath taking. The characters are wonderfully thought out, each being strong in their own way, the story is well placed and seriously well thought out, there was a perfect balance between the action in the story and the peaceful moments that lead you perfectly throughout the intricacy of the web that this author wove. Gah I'm not even sure I'm making sense right now, that is how much this story has blown my mind. My only advice would be to read it and see just what I mean. Brilliant absolutely brilliant!

Well, what can I say about this book? It really felt like I was being transported through time and space to another world far from my own. I was able to delve into the world that this author has built up very easily and quickly found myself immersed in this book. Extremely well written and the world-building was incredible. I really cared about the characters and followed their lives as though I was really there. Remarkable.

This book is fantasy set so dark ages and magic aplenty.
It is not for the faint hearted mind or those with triggers of abuse.
There are some spelling errors throughout but all told an interesting read, I look forward to the next in the series.

Very well written and a good story line albeit a bit grusome at times, now waiting for the rest of the books to be published.
There is strong adult content

I really like the dynamics of Ascension. The world Paula Acton has built is creative and each character offers a new layer to the story. The world isn't black and white. People are ruled by their wants and needs. Finding your own fate doesn't always aline with others.
Jacantha is destined to fulfil an ancient prophecy. The journey isn't for the weak-hearted and this is just the beginning. Everyone has a motive. Lust, violence, love and madness is just the start. Can she overcome her demons?
This book is written in a classic English style (Apologies I'm not sure what it's called). I'm not comparing it to other books in similar styles but there is a huge bestselling series which I also struggled with. It works well on TV for me, but I struggle with the written words. This truly is a creative read and for the right audience its an excellent escape from reality.
The road is bumpy and this is a gritty adveture book.
